Everyday tracking is comprehensive, with the data presented usefully on the device and in the much improved Garmin app so you can track activity trends over time. Battery life is solid, lasting around three days if you're a heavy user who cycles and runs outdoors every day, and five to seven days if you're less demanding on the GPS. Garmin Pay allows you to make purchases without your phone. The design of the device is terrific. The all-black version in particular won't look out of place in any situation. It's also thin and light, making it comfortable to wear at night and the Side Swipe interface is a handy extra way to navigate the watch, even if you'll probably stick mostly to the touchscreen. Things We Didn't Like As a smartwatch the Vivoactive 3 lags behind the Apple Watch 3 and even the Fitbit Ionic because it has no space for onboard music, a limited app store and a less impressive screen. For iPhone users, the Vivoactive 3 just mirrors notifications sent to the lock screen. Even on Android the ability to respond is restricted to preset responses to texts.
